Creative Gifts For Baby Showers

Receiving an invitation to a baby shower can bring mixed emotions. One the one hand, you are happy for the mother-to-be. On the other, you can’t help but wonder what kind of gift to bring. Gift cards are one size fits all, but you might prefer something more personal. You want your gift to have meaning.

If you sew, embroider, knit or crochet, you have it made when it comes to creative baby shower gifts. A homemade baby blanket, a tiny knit hat will be treasured by the new mother. You can also personalize the item if you know the name of the baby.  Creative baby shower gifts that don’t require sewing or needlework skill can be as close as your local hobby store. Pick up a small shadow box in your choice of color. Check out the scrapbooking aisle for some attractive background paper and some glue dots. Your next stop is the local post office for a stamp from the baby’s birth year. You can use a single stamp or four stamps from a corner of a sheet. The post office has a wide array of designs available. Next stop is the bank. Get a coin or set of coins from the current year. Attach the background paper to the back of the shadowbox. Then arrange the coins and stamps and use the glue dots to hold them in place. Place the glass in place and you have a unique gift for your shower. Another route to take in coming up with creative baby shower gifts is to present a mundane but necessary item in a creative way. Diaper cakes are good example. A bunch of disposable diapers are rolled up and tied to together with ribbon to resemble a cake. Instructions for making a diaper cake are widely available on the internet.  An even simpler way to present creative baby shower gifts is to collect a variety of small but useful items such as tweezers, medicine spoons, thermometers and lotions and place them in a basket. Decorate the basket with baby themed ribbon and tie on a pacifier for a finishing touch
